The preprint of the article "AI can see you: Machiavellianism and Extraversion are reflected in eye movements"
The research has been published on the PsyArXiv website. This work is a result of collaboration between researchers from Russia, Germany, China, and the United Kingdom, including Elina Tsigeman, Victoria Zemlyak, Maxim Likhanov, Kostas A. Papadogeorgiou, and Yulia Kovas.
The study aims to assess personality traits based on eye movements using machine learning. The experiment involved tracking the eye movements of visitors to a museum exhibition using a mobile eye tracker.
As a result of the experiment, it was possible to predict extraversion, neuroticism, and Machiavellianism solely based on eye movements with accuracy higher than chance level. These findings may lead to the development of new "non-questionnaire" tests for assessing personality traits and raise new questions about the mechanisms linking eye movement activity and an individual's personality characteristics.
