MEDIAPROFESSIONALISM AND CONFIRMATION BIAS: POINTS OF INTERSECTION

Project leader: Viktoria Vzyatyshcheva

Participants: Olesya Koltsova, Viktoria Vzyatyshcheva

Project Description:

Belief in misinformation can be influenced by various factors. Messages are perceived as more credible if they confirm personal beliefs – this effect is known as confirmation bias. On the other hand, media literacy is likely an effective measure against users' susceptibility to fake news and, presumably, to individual biases. However, little is known about how misinformation is perceived by the presumably most competent audience – media professionals.
